Health Fair Representative
Volunteers for health fairs assist in educating the public about cancer, early detection and prevention through materials handed out from display booths at health fairs in the metropolitan area. Volunteers will also provide information on Cancer Action and the services the agency provides to the community. Volunteers will be responsible for setting up the booth in an attractive manner and to answer questions whenever possible. Health Fair Volunteers will need to be consistent, responsible and reliable. Approximately 4 hours per health fair is needed.

Courier
Volunteer couriers deliver nutritional supplements and comfort items to home-bound cancer patients and also pick up items to be donated to Cancer Action from the community. Couriers will receive initial training and orientation. A stipend is available for those who wish to be reimbursed for miles driven. Volunteers must have their own transportation. Approximately 1-2 hours per week will be needed.

Transportation Driver
Volunteer drivers provide transportation for cancer patients to and from treatments and doctor's appointments. This volunteer opportunity provides a person the opportunity to be a direct source of encouragement and support to those going through cancer treatment. A stipend is available for those who wish to be reimbursed for miles driven. Drivers receive an initial training and orientation. Approximately 3 hours per week is usually needed.

Service Unit Volunteer
As a member of a caring group working together, these volunteers make comfort items for cancer patients to be distributed from the Cancer Action office. Items that are made by service units are bed pads, afghans, gowns, booties, trach bibs, turbans, totes, mastectomy kits, pillows and hospital bed sheets. Training for your group is available. Contact the volunteer coordinator to learn about service units already working in your area, or to begin a group of your own.
