The agency has various events and programs throughout the year, such as the Heart of Gold: 50th Anniversary Celebration, 5K Grand Prix in July (postponed for 2009) and preparing our Holiday gift bags. These volunteer opportunities are available at different times of the year and would entail working a brief period of time.

Heart of Gold: 50th Anniversary Celebration
Cancer Action is celebrating 50 years of providing support, empowerment and hope to cancer patients in Kansas City. This celebration will take place Satruday, October 3, 2009, at the Overland Park Marriott. Volunteers will be needed to assist with decorations, registration, as spotters for our live Balloon Auction, check out and many activities leading up to the event. Sunflowers To Roses Charity Ride
Cancer Action is a beneficiary of the proceeds raised through this annual bike ride. We assist the event by volunteering as registration assistants, staffing water stations and assisting with the celebration at the end of the race. Please complete the volunteer form if you are interested.

Cancer Action Grand Prix 5K Volunteer

The Grand Prix 5K provides many opportunities to volunteer for a few hours, or dozens of hours depending on your schedule! There are "sit-down" tasks, courier/driving tasks and some moderate-lifting tasks that are all available the week proceeding the event during business hours. The day on the event there are volunteer positions ranging from set-up, to timekeeping, course monitors, registration assistants, kiddie-dash volunteers, food and drink servers, race spotters with DJ Kirby (Mix 93-3), finish line assistants and water station servers.
